This website is designed to:
Our group formed in late March 2020 to meet an initial goal of providing 1000 reusable cloth masks to provide protection against transmission of COVID-19. These masks are for patients and their caregivers coming into the Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) Emergency Department to protect them - and others - by reducing disease transmission. We also provide our masks to Emergency Department support staff so that medical-grade masks can be preserved for providers giving direct patient care.
As of 7/24/2020, we have provided over 10,000 masks to patients, Emergency Department staff and Emergency Medicine residents.
These reusable cloth masks are used as source control, to contain droplets that an asymptomatic or symptomatic person may spread by coughing, sneezing, clearing their throat, etc., which contaminate surfaces and infect other people. The masks also reduce transmission by keeping mask wearers from touching their nose or mouth and becoming infected.
It has been amazing and deeply gratifying to see how people have pulled together. We are extremely grateful for the outpouring of supplies, cutting and sewing skills and unsolicited financial contributions.
We intend to keep producing masks and donating them as long as the need exists, and right now, that need is growing.
Your financial contribution will provide much-needed funds to purchase supplies and offset the costs of producing masks.
Contributions of any amount are welcome and can be made on this site by clicking the DONATE button below
